josh and i had a fun easter weekend. josh had to work all day saturday so i decided to be productive and get some much needed cleaning done at my house and run some errands. i woke up early and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned until everything was polished, vacuumed, and smelling good. then i ventured to the grocery store to buy some food for our easter dinner (bad idea... lee's was having an easter egg hunt for the little tykes and the grocery store was swarming with children. i almost ran a few over with my cart before i decided to grab the necessities and i'll return next week to do my full grocery shopping trip). i made it to the craft store, a baby boutique, the bank, sams club, and the gas station. when i got home, i threw together a cute wreath craft that the girls in my ward put together for an enrichment activity (i wasn't able to attend because i had to work). i did 3 loads of laundry and i wrote 2 papers for school and worked on a powerpoint presentation. it was probably the most productive saturday i have ever had.
when josh got off work we headed out to the american west heritage center for baby animal days. i have always wanted to go and this was the first year that i was in town for it! i know, i know, we don't have any kids, but i wanted to go and i didn't care who thinks it is lame. i had to drag josh along but i think he enjoyed himself. we got there late and just as a storm was starting to blow in. we played with the cute little baby farm animals until the weather wouldn't cooperate anymore. it was nice though because all the parents took their kids home one it started sprinkling and we had a lot of the animals all to ourselves!
ok, i did not dye my hair red even though these pictures make it seem that way. also, ignore the windblown look, i couldn't help it. and don't mind the washed out pictures of me either (josh struggles with the camera sometimes). in fact, just look at the animals and don't even pay attention to the faces i am pulling.
so while we were looking at some of the reptiles, josh started talking to a lady who was selling african dwarf frogs. you know, those frogs that are the size of a quarter and you can never hold them or else they'll die? somehow she convinced him that he needed to purchase some. i felt like a mom explaining to her child about how a pet is a big responsibility- you have to feed them, clean their little tank, and love them. he agreed to do all the above and purchased 2 little guys.
after playing with the pets we headed to dinner and returned home to dye some easter eggs. however, the egg dyeing kit wasn't so much a dyeing kit as it was an egg painting kit-- i was quite disappointed. i guess next year i need to read the box better. anyway, josh and i painted away and i just need to say that we are probably the world's worst egg painters. in my mind, i pictured these beautiful, colorful eggs with sparkles and gems on them. ours turned out... not so much beautiful or artistic, but they were definitely colorful!
after egg painting we headed to petsmart to find some gravel and a tree for our little frog tank. this is how it turned out:
josh hasn't named his frogs yet- he says he needs to get to know them before he can name them.
this morning we got up and headed to church. when we got home, the easter bunny came and brought us some eggs filled with treats, some mtn dew, and a perfect pushup. random, but fun.
15 love notes:
Wow what an exciting weekend! I can't believe how much you got done in one day, it makes me feel a little inadequete (I can't lie)... somedays I feel lucky to have showered let alone get all of the stuff you did.
It looks like you guys had such a fun weekend! I love all the animal pics, and I still love to hear how you have to treat Josh like a little 5 year old boy; Im so glad that I am not the only one!!! Your eggs were painted so beautiful and I am very impressed with your Easter dinner! We need to see you guys sometime SOON, we miss you lots :) Love ya
I'm totally drooling over your Easter dinner! Looks like you had fun, of course you are fun no matter what you're doing!!! We need to get together soon. Should we wait until the semester is over to invite you over? Let me know, I know you're lives are crazy busy!
Fun Easter weekend, the dinner looked delish, what's wrong with mac and cheese for every meal, that's how my kids survive! I love the painted eggs, and pics with the animals.
I'll call you next time we're up in Logan I'd love to see you guys it's been way too long.
I am impressed with your culinary abilities! You must be watching the Food Network!
Don't you love how husbands are like children at times! I can't believe you gave in to the frogs. I don't do pets that are slimey and jump.....or are rodents. You must be a better woman than I am.
Your meal did look delicious! I wish I was a good enough wife to cook like that! I am also impressed with your Easter eggs...I thought they looked great! I'm so glad you had a fun Easter!
What a great weekend. I love the baby animals. I need to bring my kids next year. Too much fun and your pics are fab!!
Nice dinner, you can come and cook for me;)
You know Liz, it starts with the frogs, then dogs, then the inevitable, KIDS!! Lets see how Josh handles the frogs?? ha ha ha!!! Love the eggs. I think that Josh is sweet with his sentiments.
Liz you are so cute! Your dinner looks delicious! Good idea to use craft paint for your eggs, I'll have to try that sometime. Always so crafty.
P.S the new background is cute!
Next year I want to come to baby animals day! Are the frogs girls or boys? Wouldn't it be fun to have baby frogs next year!! Ha, Ha!
Aww I kinda wanted to go to baby animal days too, but i thought all the parents would give me funny looks. So no, I won't make fun of you :)
You know, we have a dog, then I got plants to take care of, now I'm thinking about getting fish (again) and the frogs aren't helping. Haha. But no babies!
So...I'd been meaning to apologize to you. AJ's friend that was at dinner with us, is one of my least favorite people. He always makes everyone purposely feel awkward, and he had some smart comment to make about EVERY single person that walked past our table. It's humiliating and I'm sorry he kept teasing you. But you were def a good sport. I couldn't apologize there (I was about to) or he would make fun of me, so here it is on your blog :)
Fun Easter Adventures! I love that you went to see the animals. I would have loved to do that. The animals are so cute! You look like a model in those pictures! The wind blowing your hair and looking all sassy like! They curl and color look so cute. Love the dying of the easter eggs and the dinner. we should have come over looked delicious! Post a picture of your craft that you made. I want to see what it looks like. I always want new crafts but I am too lazy to actually do them! Oh and I agree I need you to finish school and buy one of those ear checkers and then when i suspect an ear ache i can just come to you! deal? Deal! I am glad i got him checked though, thanks for your advice!
so fun! Im SO sad we missed out :(
Wow that dinner looks wonderful, good job. Baby animal days looked so fun. Happy Belated Easter you two are so cute.
