sometimes i act like i'm superwoman.
i have a crazy school load where i am trying my darndest to get straight a's
where i am an active member of our student organization
where i'm trying to complete research projects and write research papers
where i have taken on an extra load of classes and coursework so i can get a specialization in my field
i work (technically) 3 jobs that pull me in opposite directions
i try to fulfill my calling in church to the best of my abilities
i try to find time for myself where i can do things i want to do
i try to spend time with my hubby
and keep my house clean and clothes laundered
so neither of us look unkempt.
but today i realized i'm human
and definitely not superwoman
today, feelings of being overwhelmed and exhausted
and frustrated and torn
and the inability to say "no" to anyone and anything
and being a constant people-pleaser
got the best of me
and i totally lost it today in the middle of my school day
and i cried to one of my professors and one of my supervisors.
and i never cry.
and i think they thought i was crazy
and emotionally unstable
and gosh darn it, maybe they're right!!
because i can't do it all
and i can't be the best at everything
and i need a break just as much as the next person
and life is hard
and expectations are hard to meet
and reality isn't always sweet and rosy.
bless my dear friend
liz who saw me outside my building
and listened to me vent and cry some more
and bought me a diet coke and some raspberry lime sherbet.
you made my day.
today is the first day in a long long time that i felt vulnerable
and imperfect and weak
and i am surprisingly ok with it!
because tomorrow i will have to go back to being superwoman
running a million miles a minute in all different directions.
but for the rest of today, i'm just going to be liz!!
